Steve Walsh Blog – 16th June 2013

Thanks to all my loyal readers that keep checking back on my blog during the quieter part of the pre-season. I think the end of last season is now far enough behind us to start looking forward to the new season.  With fixture being announced on the 19th of June, I can’t wait to see who we have as our first game. I’m also very pleased to hear we have been seeded in the Capital Cup.

The Leicester squad will be back in training soon a far cry from my days when we used to have 3 months off. I can’t wait for the 3rd August and for the new season to get underway.

Since the end of the season I have been very busy working with mine and Muzzy Izzet’s soccer academy and planning our summer camps. I have attached a flyer including all of our dates for the up and coming summer if anyone knows of a young Future Fox.

I’ve got some really exciting things happening this year including my second book that is progressing nicely. I’m hoping that this will be ready in time for Christmas. Speaking of Christmas, it’s never too soon to book your office party and I have just confirmed Neil “Razor” Ruddock at the Leicester City Football Club Sports Bar on 19th December. This should be a great party and we have table of 10 available for £350, and single tickets will be sold at £40. I would advise that you book early to avoid disappointment as this event will sell out fast.

I’ve got my usual Legends 5 a side tournament booked for the 11th August. It will be at Goals Soccer Centre and team entries are at £75 plus VAT.

I’m very pleased to announce following K Kong Events charity golf day, we have just confirmed a second will be held at Cosby Golf Club on Friday 6th September 2013. Teams of 4 are available for £225 plus VAT.

With K Kong Events, we have two up and coming events. Firstly ‘The Business’ with special guest Steve Collins which will be held on 31st August at Leicester Coliseum, which is already almost sold out! Our second event is ‘Banger ‘N’ Smash’, hosted by four ex-vilans, which is scheduled at the Maher Centre on 4th October. Tickets are on sale for £35 and I can guarantee it will be the best bangers ‘N’ mash you’ve ever had. For all bookings please email, [email protected]or get in touch with us via our website,www.kkongevents.co.uk

It’s still a little early to be predicting what might happen next season but I’m really hoping for better selections than last year as I fancied Wolves to go straight back up.

Steve Walsh Blog – 1st June 2013

What a fantastic day 25th May!! Watched Leicester Tigers win at Twickenham and then I was ringside for Carl Froch v Mikkel Kessler… What a fight!! Its been a long time since I last saw an English boxer excite us, and even though he’s a Forest fan he’s made of stern stuff is Froch. An atmosphere I will never forget and a fight worthy of remembering. It doesn’t come much better than that – one of the top 6 best days of my life ( the other five just might be a competition question for the new season!). If only Leicester had won the playoffs then there would have been another monument in the city centre.

Unfortunately it wasn’t to be and as I write this its Watford vs Crystal Palace, a game I vowed not to watch after the disrespectful Watford fans celebrated right in my face and to the Leicester fans! But I can’t stay away from it and I will be eager to see who wins and also see who we will be up against next season.

Only 2 weeks away from football and I’m ready for the new season – I guess football is in my blood. I understand the season starts on August 18th this year so an extra week holiday and rest for all professional footballers.

Fixtures will be released at 9am on June the 18th and I’m like a kid, I can’t wait to see Forest as our first game of the season. That would be ironic or Derby County on Boxing Day and it will be great to see my old club Wigan Athletic who narrowly lost their premier league status.

It looks like the dust has settled at Leicester and the realization that we are still in the championship has set in. But well done to John Rudkin winning the HK Cup at least we got some silverware!! Maybe we will find a couple of new youngsters coming through this year.

Would like to mention thanks to Michael Keane for a fantastic loan performance, I wish we could nick him again this year or should we get 11 Italian loanees like Watford? No thanks.

Come on everyone let’s get this party started because this next season has to be our time to celebrate, we must get promotion. An even tougher league now than last year so let’s hope we are up to the test.

Next Saturday is our Alexander O Neil concert! It’s not too late to come and join me so get your tickets from our website
