23rd November 2013

It’s been another one of those international breaks where you think “was it really worth it” after being disappointed yet again by an England performance where we were second best all over the pitch. I really wonder if the English game would be better not having a break and letting us have a full fixture list and clubs would have to field more home grown players whilst the international players are away. This gives clubs an incentive to develop rather than spend and supporters can still enjoy their Saturday game rather than finding excuses not to help with the shopping at Tesco!! We did win a world cup without international breaks!

After the International break, I am very much looking forward to seeing how the lads can pick themselves up after a very disappointing result against Forest. It’s very important to build on results in the run up to Christmas and hopefully we can consolidate our top three position as we go into the New Year. Today’s fixtures are very interesting with Burnley above us playing Forest and I hope Burnley get the three points.

Ipswich for us is always a tough place to go to, but I know Nigel Pearson will have been working hard with the team to avoid three successive defeats. I can’t remember the last time that happened, but every team has a blip during a season and even with us getting no points so far this month, we are only 2 off the top and with Blackpool having a trip to Birmingham to look forward to, I am hoping for a gap to appear between 3rd and the rest below after today’s games are over.

I’ve been very busy recently with Dragon’s Den, but last week I was invited to go and watch Sam Bailey on the X Factor with Matt Elliot. It was a brilliant night! I had the chance to get a photo with Rough Copy and Sam herself. She seems to be overwhelming favourite to win this year, and we really will have a big celebration if she pulls it off. We had great seats and weren’t far away from Kate Moss. Also, Ozzy Osbourne was there but I didn’t get the chance to meet him.

Don’t forget next week is the last chance to enter my Dragon’s Den competition to give you the chance of winning not only a signed Steve Walsh Derby Goal photo, but also a meal for two at Dragon’s Den, hosted by myself.
