Steve’s Blog 22nd March

Saturday saw the mighty LCFC dispatch yet another victim. I won’t lie, I had some concerns in the first half about whether we could keep hold of our undefeated record. Blackpool looked more dominant in the first half of the game and managed an early goal. This time last season LCFC would have admitted defeat after that, but not now! The determination by the team when they were 1-0 down was brilliant, they turned the game around easily and tore Blackpool apart. They are now firm favorites to go up and in the process could break all club records at this rate!

When LCFC were 1-0 down, I knew that all they needed was one goal for a confidence boost and they could go on to win the game. The first goal came in the form of a sensational strike from new addition to the team, Riyad Mahrez. He powered down the right wing to unleash an unstoppable shot. Mahrez is looking really impressive at the moment and seems to have settled into the team with ease.

Throughout the rest of the match there was plenty of chances created, it’s a shame that we didn’t score more than 3 goals as we definitely had the chances! LCFC’s second goal was an absolute cracker from Wes Morgan. As Captain of the top team in the Championship it was great to see him get a goal. After a great second half performance, Kevin Phillips just topped off our lead by getting a goal against his old club. Excellent!

A big well done to Nigel Pearson and the lads, I really hope we can keep this up until the rest of the season and get some club records broken!

Last Friday, my brother in law, Terry, was in hospital for an operation on his leg. Unfortunately, the surgeons were unable to save his leg. I wish him a speedy recovery, and all my support. A holiday flight to Thailand caused him to lose both an arm and leg. It’s really sad but Terry will have a lot of support from the family! I will be doing some fund raising soon for him, and our the club has been very supportive. Get better soon Terry!

Steve Walsh Blog – 15th March 2014

Last weekend saw LCFC get a well-deserved break from the league. They have been working very hard recently and although they didn’t have a fixture we still had a great weekend. Due to the other results from the league we were still sitting top with a massive points gaps and both Forest and Derby lost their weekend fixtures, excellent!

Tuesday’s fixture didn’t disappoint. LCFC have now gone 14 games without being beaten, and have a 3-0 victory record for the last 3 matches! They are now 7 points clear of Burnley and have a game in hand. It was another demolition job from the City squad and made for a great Tuesday evening. I was entertained in a box and chauffeur driven by Wayne North from S&W Installations – many thanks to them for their excellent hospitality. After watching the performances from Danny Drinkwater improve every match he plays, I have decided that he is my Man of the Season. The way he plays with razor sharp Vardy has been key to LCFC’s recent success. Vardy seems very comfortable in the role that he plays within the squad, he’s scoring goals left, right and centre.

I’m really pleased about how everything is going for the club, it’s a brilliant feeling seeing your team win week in week out. Nigel Pearson must be really happy with all his players, especially the new additions to the team. I think

Mahrez is shaping up to be a good player, he’s quick and shows determination.

I wish the best of luck to everyone at LCFC for the rest of the season. It’s going to be a tough run of games but I have faith that this is our year!

Dragon’s Den Chinese is running its Sunday Buffet again this weekend. If you fancy coming to join us you can book by calling 01162 781387 or E-Mail [email protected]. We are also open on Mother’s Day so if you want to come and celebrate with us you can book in!

I would like to end this weeks Blog on personal note. My brother in law Terry has undergone a operation last night. I wanted to say he has all my support and best wishes and I will be their for him throughout his recovery.

Steve Walsh Blog – 8th March 2014

Before Saturday’s match I was feeling very confident! I was hosting at the King Power Stadium for 137 guests in the Lineker Lounge. I predicted a 3-0 victory for the boys, and they didn’t let me down! I wonder if Nigel Pearson would still say that I can’t mention promotion? I really feel that 2014 is LCFC’s year and I can’t help but hope that they not only get promoted, but do it in style by winning the Championship!

Charlton have been the thorn in our side in the past, but on Saturday they faced a very different team. Kasper Schmeichel had an easy match, according to the stats Charlton only made 1 on target shot for a goal. They were completely outclassed by LCFC who played with impressive professional destruction that cemented their top of table dominance. Personally, I couldn’t have picked a Man of the Match as the whole team put in an outstanding performance. Match sponsors, Gatorade gave their MOM to Wasilewski who never put a foot wrong.

Yet again, Danny Drinkwater was brilliant. Week in, week out his performances are consistent. He has also formed a good partnership with Matty James in midfield, they always play very well between each other, Vardy and Nugent. All will be important Premiership players for next season. We couldn’t have asked for more from the Charlton match, three terrific goals and no goals conceded.

On Saturday after LCFC’s win, Birchy and me went to Loughborough Dynamo FC for a Q&A evening. It was a great night and we told some highly entertaining stories to a great crowd. If anyone would like to book us for an event you can email, [email protected]

I know its always good to win but the England display must leave Roy Hodgsen with a few headaches. Kasper Schmeichal was man of the match for me with some trademark LCFC saves. We must sign him up quick  as his contract talks drag on. But from an England point of view sloppy defending at times being cut open imagine the top teams players Messi/Aguero/Suarez are going to do? A little worrying for me but like the way Roy is developing youth with experience and his starting 11 should be good enough to compete against the big boys. Injuries is the last thing he needs and Wiltshere a big blow for England & Arsenal. i thought the only players to shine were Gary Cahill and best of all was Raheem Sterling who is a real threat. All the hype surrounding Luke Shaw finally got his chance and will be satisfied im sure with his performance. The reliable Gerrard has to play and Oxlade Chamberlain another threat with his pace so if we do get the right balance things could happen but im not putting any money on us at 25/1!

This Sunday I am running another Sunday Buffet at Dragon’s Den Chinese. Last week’s went well and the relaxed buffet service made for a great atmosphere. If you fancy joining us you can book a table my ringing 0116 278 1387.

Steve Walsh Blog – 1st of March

Our unbeaten record is still intact, we haven’t lost in the last 14 games as we enter the last ten weeks of the season. There are still a few teams fighting it out at the top of the league in the race for promotion.

What a season this is turning out to be! Earlier on in the season I thought that Burnley would feel the burn and fade away down the table, but they are still relentlessly marching on. QPR seem to have made a few slip-ups recently but are still in the running for the play-offs. My home club Wigan look as though they are trying for the play offs, they have been quiet all season but are now slowly creeping up behind.

As much as it pains me to say it, the two other clubs in the Midlands are still in the running for promotion. Not only LCFC, but also Forest and Derby have had a phenomenal season. I wouldn’t be surprised if all three Midlands teams went up, stranger things have happened in football! And, lets face it would be nice to continue playing the local rivals next season.

Saturday’s performance against Ipswich was a second gear performance but despite LCFC not playing in full speed they brushed aside Mick McCarthy’s side with ease. I have to say, I expected a better performance from Ipswich, they seemed to lack any fight. Never the less, Vardy is certainly turning on the style with his endless pace. It is certainly paying off as he terrorizes defenses. For me, Vardy was my man of the match. Danny Drinkwater has also put in some class performances recently, he adds a needed consistency into the team. I was a little worried when Konchesky got a red card at Forest as the whether or not it would have an affect on LCFC’s performance but it seems as though we have a strong enough bench to cover this.

Bring on Charlton! I have no doubt that we can pick up another three points against Charlton, they are in the bottom three of the league! Although I have faith in my team I expect to see some fight from Charlton, as I’m sure they will be in a desperate bid to keep their place in the Championship. Good luck to Nigel Pearson and the lads!

I’ve got a busy weekend ahead. Dragon’s Den Chinese is doing its first Sunday Buffet this weekend. The dishes we have on offer are truly magnify! If you want to pop down, you can book a table by calling 01162 781 387.

Firstly I would like everyone to spare a thought for a Leicester great who sadly passed away last week. He was an almighty right back and a true legend to Leicester City Football Club. I send all my condolences to Len’s family and friends. We lost another one of footballs greats in Tom Finney; he made it to the ripe old age of 91. He was my dad’s hero and one of Preston North Ends greatest players.

Dragon’s Den had a great week last week. We had our busiest weekend since opening so thanks to all the couples who came down to celebrate Valentines Day with us! We have got new menus on the way so make sure you come and visit us if you haven’t already!

But, back to football. We had a really tough game against Forest on Wednesday night. It was a brilliant game to watch, red cards, penalties and a great atmosphere. The LCFC supporters that went to the Forest game were excellent and never failed to make me smile throughout the match. I was a little disappointed that we didn’t pick up three points, but I’ll settle for the one as we earned it.

I know that the players always feel a lot of pressure when they play Forest, especially away and unfortunately it showed on Wednesday night. I think that Nugent missed a few golden opportunities to score but luckily we had a cracking goal from Vardy and a nice little surprise goal from our new player Riyad Mahrez. I was very pleased to see him score and I think he’s going to make a cracking player once he’s gained a bit more experience. It must have been another frustrating game for Lloyd Dyer. I really rate him as a player and realize that our opponents have picked up on his talent. Yet again he was marked out of the match. Dyer has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism lately, I think fans have got to remember that while he is being defended by two players it opens up opportunities for the rest of our up-front players. I believe that Nigel Pearson will be able to use this to his advantage.

There’s so much that I could comment on after the Forest match, Liam Moore was back on form and we definitely need him back in the starting line-up. I’ll be interested to see how Nigel Pearson will change the team for our match against Ipswich now that Paul Konchesky has got a three-match ban. I’ve heard people talking about putting Schlupp and Mahrez down the left-hand side but I think to put two inexperienced players down one side would leave us vulnerable. I still believe that Dyer should be starting for us. I think the match gives us a good opportunity to mix up the substitutions and pick up another three points. Despite only picking up two points from the last two matches, LCFC are still sitting comfortably on top with an eight point advantage as well as a decent goal advantage. I wish the best of luck to all the players and Nigel Pearson for our match against Ipswich!

Ill be at Walkers Pies for a signing session on April 12th  so make sure you come down. Cant recommend the the guys down there enough have a look at their website and follow them at @walkerspiesUK

K Kong Events is having to re schedule the Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton night due to Ricky having one of his lads fighting. We will announce the new date asap keep checking

Finally my Charity Bike ride for Text Ellis King Power Stadium to the City Ground went well with me finishing in 6th place. Might have been even better if I’d not taken a wrong turn and ended up at Notts County! Have a look at

Nigel Pearson’s manager of the month didn’t halt formalities at the King Power last Saturday. The LCFC steamroller managed to keep Watford at bay. It’s a shame we didn’t pick up the full three points from the match, but at least our unbeaten record is technically still intact! There was some very dodgy decisions from the linesman and I believe that his flag may have cost us the three points. LCFC showed their determination and made a good job of the match, when Watford changed their tactics LCFC struggled to break down their barriers but a draw was a good result from the match.

I think it’s clear that the rest of the league has realised that Llyod Dyer is one of our better players. It showed on Saturday when Watford had two players defending him. It must have been a really frustrating game for Dyer but considering he was always being hassled by two defender I though he had a pretty good game. The presence of Liam Moore on the pitch was missed, I think his power and determination would have helped us. Vardy and Nugent are looking really good together up front, they put in a good effort on Saturday and created a lot of chances.

There’s plenty of games still left this season and we are still sitting comfortably at the top of the league. I’m trying not to get too carried away with Premiership hopes, but it is hard not to! You can never take anything for granted in football and I’m sure Nigel Pearson will be telling his players to take it one game at a time. Pearson hasn’t yet showed any signs of pressure, although I’m sure it must be increasing for him. Every team we play from now on will be really desperate to beat us and knock us down.

I’m still trying out different titles for my book that’s coming out in November. If anyone has any more ideas please email me! [email protected]

I’ve been really busy with K Kong again, we have started preparing for our evening with Ricky Hatton that’s coming up in April. For more information and tickets you can have a look on the K Kong website:

Leicester City now stand 10 points clear at the top of league table, could we be in a better position? There’s still plenty of matches left this season but I think it will take a lot to stop us now. Could we get that automatic promotion? I know I still shouldn’t get too carried away but I just can’t help myself. I know Nigel Pearson wouldn’t like me saying this as he knows only too well that anything can happen, but he must be feeling pretty confident and proud of his team. And a big congratulations is in order for Nigel Pearson winning the Sky Bet Manager of the Month! City are certainly in good hands. I am really pleased for the Thai owners who have backed us all the way and continue to fund the club. I’m sure they must be really pleased with the results. Just imagine how big we are going to be in the Far East if we make it into the Premiership, I know that they already have a dedicated shop in Bangkok airport!

I really shouldn’t get so carried away with my confidence in the team, but I can’t help it after watching them this season. I can’t see another team in the league that could stop us at this point. There’s a tough battle going on between Forest, Derby, Burnley and QPR and I know the Leicester vs Forest game that’s coming up will be an ‘on the edge of your seat’ kind of game. I’m sure Forest will be out to prove they can beat the top team in the league. But, they will have a challenge on their hands as Nigel Pearson seems to be raising the standards every match.

I’m really excited about Kevin Phillips joining City. I think his experience will be really good for the team and I’m hoping that he will bring in some goals. We have a full squad with a strong bench and a manager that is currently doing incredibly well. A winning combination I think!

I’ve been pretty busy again over the last week with coaching, my new book and Dragons Den Chinese. I know my Twitter followers will have seen the interview I did this week with Radio Norwich, and I have been overwhelmed with the messages of support since then. The time just after being let go by the taterpeeler was the most difficult of my life and I found it really tough to get over. The full story is coming soon, watch this space!

We’ve now got a special Valentines menu for next weekend so if you fancy treating your special lady book a table! After working hard all week, I have Sundays to catch up and read the paper. There’s nothing better than spending Sunday reading the sports pages knowing that your team is flying.

Happy days for all the Leicester City fans. Good luck once again to Nigel and the lads, keep up the good and make us proud!

There’s a few exciting things coming up for me this year. I’m just in the middle of organising a podcast that hopefully will come out in March. I’m planning on doing interviews with Nigel Pearson and his team and a few other celebrity guests. Keep an eye out for updates!

Also, I am in the middle of deciding on a title for my book, so if you have any ideas email me your thoughts: [email protected]

Steve Walsh Blog – 1st February 2014

It’s been yet another successful week for LCFC. The club record of 7 wins in 8 games was equalled last Saturday in style against Middlesborough who hadn’t lost in 8 games. The record was then smashed at Birmingham on Tuesday night thanks to two brilliant goals from Dyer and Vardy. Quite frankly I don’t see anyone standing in our way as we kick the New Year off on top form.  I was very proud of the record we set in 1993 but it’s a massive achievement for this team to have beaten it.

The LCFC squad is complete, although Liam Moore’s injury is a big blow! But, I still believe that we have the man to stand in for him, Wesilewski. He has proved himself during the matches he has played and looks more than capable of filling in. It was great to see a glimpse of Mahrez on the pitch, he looks as though he will make an exciting player for the squad.

Saturday’s games against Middlesborough almost got spoiled by a heavy local tropical storm. It made the first half look as though we might have struggled to continue our winning streak but when the pitch dried out LCFC’s superiority and class shone through. Vardy’s relentless efforts gave him a well-deserved man of the match. He also proved his worth as a penalty taker. Do we take Nugent off penalties and hand them over to Vardy? I say yes. But don’t worry Nugent, you’re still a great player!

My bet is that we are going to be in the Premier League next season, I can’t see anything getting in way now. Make sure you start saving for next year’s season ticket! I can’t wait until our fixtures list shows us playing weekly matches against the big boys! Bring it on!

I know Nigel Pearson won’t be happy about me talking about promotion as we still have a lot of games left, so sorry Nigel! Good luck to everyone at City for the next few games. Keep the faith, I know I am!

Valentines Night tables at Dragons Den are booking up fast we’ve got a fantastic menu which you can see below.

Steve Walsh Blog – 25th January 2014

Yet another win for the mighty Foxes, with six wins from the last seven games this nearly equals the record that we set in 1993. On one hand I don’t want to see that record that we worked so hard for broken, but on the other it is a massive achievement for the team. A lot of credit has to go to Nigel Pearson and the team.

With Leeds being thrashed 6-0 by their arch Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday I knew Citu would be in for a tough game. However the lads did so well and managed to grind out a 1-0 victory. That for me is the sign of a promotion winning team who can go anywhere and get a result without necessarily playing to the best of their ability.

On to new signings, I look forward to meeting both Riyad Mahrez and Kevin Phillips at the fortress that is the King Power Stadium tomorrow. I don’t know much about Mahrez but I’m told he has excellent technical ability and will be one to watch. I’ve been saying for the last 2 years that Leicester needed a finisher like Kevin Phillips and finally we have him! Don’t be surprised to see him bang plenty of goals in and I might have a sneaky tenner on him getting into double figures before the end of the season.  You might think I’m mad but we create so many chances Kevin will definitely put them away! I’m very happy and the squad looks complete and I feel this season is the biggest opportunity we’ve had since I tucked the winner away to send us into ‘Dreamland’ in 1994. Magnif!

I’ve been looking at the fixtures and believe in April we can win all 7 games if my stats are right so it’s worth a decent bet! If that happens, promotion will be gained early, but I suspect Nigel Pearson already has an eye on his squad for the Premier League and he will want to plan well ahead for that eventuality. It will mean players in the present squad going all out to prove they deserve a chance in the top league, what better incentive to get those all-important results right now!

The Big One! Event for your diaries, come and join me for my long awaited book launch and 50th Birthday bash on the 8th of November 2014. Steve Walsh Blog – 18th January 2014

Friday night football always feel a bit strange to me, like Tuesday night football, not quite right? But, if Leicester City play like they did against Derby then clearly Friday is our night! I always believed that City could beat Derby despite their recent winning streak, but I didn’t expect the utter annihilation of our local rivals! Our goals had a devastating effect on the Derby defence and once the goals stared coming in, we were unstoppable.

The front line attack we played against Derby was the most convincing yet. Lloyd Dyer and Anthony Knockaert wide, feeding the ball through to Jamie Vardy and David Nugent; and they were all on fire! Lloyd Dyer looked as though he was terrorising Derby’s defence, the performance he put in was pure class. I’ve heard Nigel Pearson saying that he now believes he has got the best 11 on his regular squad, so we know what to expect for future games. I will agree after Friday’s match and I still think that LCFC have got a strong bench as well. Not only has Nigel Pearson got a strong squad, but they showed this to everyone on Sky TV! It made my commentary even more special.

It’s been a great start to what I think will be our year! I’ve got so much to be excited about for 2014, it’s my 50th birthday this year and I’m planning a very special birthday party with K Kong Events. I will also be publishing my new book, and Muzzy and I are setting up a new football academy. AFDA (Advanced Football Development Academy) will offer 16-18 year olds a chance to gain either a BTEC qualification through a sport specific programme, or a route to professional football, as well as being trained by former pros, myself and Muzzy Izzet.
