Steve Walsh Blog – 29th of September

BACK TO BACK WINS! What a week for LCFC. We are amongst the pack, chasing top and only four points away.  Nigel Pearson must be pleased, and the pressure and hard work has finally paid off, he is driven and desperate to Leicester move into the Premier League. After an unconvincing win against Burnley, we really turned up the heat and made an on form Hull City look average! From start to finish we stamped our authority on the game and it was great to see Nugent back on the goal trail. He’s the first City player to score a treble against the Tigers since Arthur Rowley in 1952 (I missed that game through suspension!), Vardy created some great chances in the first and second half, he almost had the game tied up before Nugent’s fantastic hat trick. And, for once we had a decent ref, this was certainly a change in luck for LCFC. Every player deserves credit for the fantastic win and I hope to see that kind of performance in the future from the squad. We need to keep focusing on the games ahead and make sure we don’t get too complacent, there’s a long season ahead. The football and retaining possession was like watching a ‘keep-ball’ training session; we managed to keep the ball away from Hull for between 20-30 passes at a time.

I still think we are yet to see a team that has looked like promotion material; so maybe, this could be Leicester’s season! I am a little cautious of saying this, but if Nugent and Vardy start to connect more as players, I think they will become a striking force to be reckoned with, they are both capable of great things! Vardy has taken a big step up, and he is looking sharp on the pitch and it was a shame he couldn’t get one in the net against Hull. If he can get a couple of goals in over the next couple of weeks his confidence will grow and he will soon become a key player for LCFC. Schmeichel produced some fantastic saves in the second half and Knockaert and Drinkwater were both looking fantastic. Bring on Middlesbrough.

During the week I met with Kasabian’s Tom Meighan. He’s a good mate of mine and he was good enough to sign some brilliant Kasabian memorabilia that will be used in an auction to raise money for charity.

WORLD EXCLUSIVE (for Walshy’s Blog!!)

He gave me an exclusive on what Kasabian’s plans are for the next year. “Kasabian are going to take some time out, re-group and then start writing some new demos and get back in the studio.” This means a 2013 album release, but not before. Leicester’s greatest band will soon be starting the process of writing and recording in the studio, but it will be an album well worth waiting for.
